Müller Martini has introduced Diamant Pro Digital, a hardcover bookline built for highly variable work ranging from single copies to series runs. It produces both round-back and flat-back books and can switch formats within a product family without operator intervention or production stops.

Changeovers are driven by barcodes and the Connex workflow, with JDF-based tracking down to each individual copy. An integrated thickness measurement system checks book blocks and adjusts settings, and a headbanding station handles spine lengths of 140 to 360 mm automatically.

The line reaches 1,800 cycles per hour and, according to the company, doubles book-of-one output compared with the previous model. Fewer shafts, gears and chains are meant to lower maintenance costs.
